The European Football Association (UEFA) has announced the launch of a comprehensive corruption arbitration investigation involving FC Barcelona and former referee committee chairman Negrera.

The European Union, in an official statement, said that, for its part, it opened an investigation with Barcelona in connection with the violation of its rules in the case of the recent bombing of Negrera.

Spanish prosecutors have accused FC Barcelona in a case of paying money to officials of the arbitration committee in order to give them a bribe, known in the media as the Negrera case.

And the Spanish judiciary had previously launched an investigation into the payment of money to FC Barcelona in light of their contract with a company owned by former deputy chairman of the refereeing committee, José María Henriques Negrera, between 2016 and 2018.

The prosecution stated that Barcelona received and maintained a strictly confidential verbal agreement with José María Enríquez Negrera, under which he, in his capacity as Vice President of the Technical Arbitration Committee, and for money, takes actions that favor Barcelona in the referee’s decisions in matches. played by the club and hence in results and competitions.

The prosecution indicated that the Catalan club paid Negrera more than 7.3 million euros between 1994 and 2018.
