Finance Minister Nadia Fattah overturned the decision of the National Social Reserve Fund to limit compensation for orthodontic treatment.

And it came in a letter from the Minister, addressed on March 17, to the Democratic Labor Organization, in response to its complaint. “I have the honor to inform you that I have received a complaint from the Democratic Labor Organization related to the decision of the National Social Reserve Fund to limit orthodontic treatment compensation in favor of its insured, effective January 1, 2023. This complaint was sent both to the Office of Supervision for insurance and social reserves, and to the National Health Insurance Agency to study and express an opinion on it in accordance with the terms of reference of each of them.

Based on the views of these two bodies on this matter. It has been established that the decision of the board of directors of the fund to limit these compensations and your issuance of memorandum No. 2023-1 on the enforcement of this decision are recognized as a violation of the provisions of Articles 7, 10, 11 and 12 of the Federal Law. Law No. on Basic Compulsory Health Insurance, which determines the conditions and methods of compensation for guaranteed medical services, including oral and dental care, in accordance with national conventions or regulatory text, where appropriate.
On the basis of the foregoing, I request that you defer the entry into force of your aforementioned decision pending its submission to the Board of Directors of the National Health Insurance Agency for decision in accordance with the provisions of sections 59 and 85 of the aforementioned Law No. 65.00. , in accordance with the rules and procedures in force in this respect.
